14th July was our wedding anniversary and I found myself back at the same Devon coastline that Manfred and I visited six years earlier on our honeymoon.
As I trudged across the beach all alone, I yearned for a glimmer - a little something that would connect me to Manfred. One particular pebble caught my eye, its shape and patina suggested
a face - Manfred's face. I held the pebble in my hand and began searching for a second pebble, a companion.
With Manfred's pebble in my hand, I didn't feel so alone, he was there with me. Soon I found a second, smaller pebble. Using soft yellow clay I build upon the natural contours of the
pebbles to create two faces.
The faces amused me and there was a
sense of peace as I looked down
to see them lying cheek to cheek with
Manfred on the left and me on the right.
