Today feelings of loss and absence weigh heavy. It's 21st July, Manfred's Birthday. What would’ve been a day of lightness and joy is now a day of solemn remembrance. I mark the occasion with a simple offering - a love-knot, made from local clay is placed in a favourite riverside spot and set alight. The love-knot holds tender memories, I made it for Manfred‘s birthday two years ago.
As the flame flickers the clay softens and dissolves in the water.
Quiet reflective moments like this keep me connected to my beloved Manfred. They also help to soothe my wounded heart and make the pain of losing him easier to bear.
